Wheels and Deals Garage Sale Ride Saturday the 9th

Meet at The Scoop (hopefully we all know where it is) at 8:30am. We'll ride to pre-mapped addresses gleaned from Craigslist and the newspaper that are having yard and garage sales.

If you can't fit it on your bike you probably don't need it.

This is an *easy*, slow, relaxed ride. I do believe the term is "no drop", or "no bicyclist left behind" or "we all gotta wait for the people like Jacque that are Hill Slugs".

If we pass a coffee shop or tavern we just may stop in to imbibe.

It's a great way to get warmed up for the evening FBC Full Moon Ride and Bike to Work Week.

4/12 Paris-Roubaix Ride

Leave Sandifur bridge at 11.

We gotta leave on time. The goal is to land at the Steam Plant at 1pm. This is about a 24 mile ride with a couple climbs and a few miles of dirt/gravel/trail. I'd say minimum tire width would be 28mm, unless you're light and skilled on narrower tires.

The URL says Benniditos, but the actual map shows a route ending at the Steam Plant.

I've no idea how many riders we'll have, so if you come, bring a cheat sheet in case we break up. This isn't a race, but it's not a no-dropper either, so bring a friend if you want to break away or stop to smell the crocuses.

Last week we climbed Lehman. This week we climbed Greenwood. Next Sunday, we'll try White Road. Meet at the carousel at 8:30; then up the south hill, down hatch, up White Road, down to Latah valley, then up to downtown.

This is Jon's idea. I just confirmed with Valley Bowl that the amazing breakfast/bowling deal is true. It's $7/head: - eggs, bacon, hashbrowns, toast - 3 games of bowling shoes: $2 extra. the bar is not open officially, but the woman on the phone assured me that she or the cook could do drinks. It's that time of year again. Time for the 3rd annual Trifecta. Haven't decided on the day yet, but it will be Nov. 8th, 9th 10th or 11th. Kinda depends on weather and schedules. We can agree on a central location to meet. Start at 9amish and hit Beacon Hill-Riverside-The Bluff. We'll finish at Bennidito's for some brews and pie. i've been thinking of a fat tired road bike ride lately. the idea would be to do a loop of the city and do as much on dirt/trails as possible.

here's the thinking:

- start at Scoop. drop down the HD trails to the cul de sac on hatch road.

- cross hatch: take the moose trails down to hangman valley; hop on 195, go south to WHite road

-- Take the White Road traisl up to Cedar road at eagle ridge. Drop down cedar to Cheney-Spokane.

-- Hang a sharp left onto CS road: before you get to thorpe, hop the rail road tracks across from teh cemetary and get on the trail on the other side of marshal creek --

-- connect to the fish lake trail up the old deprecated access road. take FLT to finch arboretum

-- connect to palisades trails up behind the golf course -- pop out at the top of Greenwood road -- ride the rimrock dirt road over to houston and down to the cent trail.

-- go north on the trail down then up -- like 1/2 mile -- then take the trails over to bowl/pitcher.

-- loop back on aubrey white. at the shit plant, climb the trails up to NW blvd. ...

I'm kind of stuck here. there are a few dirt roads and patches and pieces, but I'm wondering if there's some good urban dirt from the NW blvd area back into downtown? then maybe find a way over to dishman to come back up the southhill via sands/tower mnt/or something similarly dirty-traily.

Friday - 8/15 - Temple Road Ride

This Friday, Jason and I are taking a ride on one of my favorite routes. It's here on bikely.

I'm hoping to leave downtown at 9AM: meet at fountain.

This will be a chilled out ride. it's about 40 miles round trip. We'll take around 5 hours.

There's a section of dirt climbing and descending -- with some parts a bit rutted, but a sensible bike would do.

I figure with the Tour of Pain off the calender there may be a few people with some additional training miles who want a challenge so I am looking to make the course more difficult and will probably involve some dirt roads. No doubt about it, it will be memorable.

First Ever World Naked Bike Ride in Saint Louis !

Hey all, if you're interested in protesting oil dependency, advocating positive body image, promoting cyclist awareness, or even simply biking or being naked, come join us for the first ever World Naked Bike Ride in Saint Louis. The event is coming up on August 2, departing from Tower Grove Park's Pool Pavilion at 9 pm. There will be body painting festivities in the vicinity starting at 7 pm. The ride is "bare as you dare," so if you don't want to come completely naked, that's totally fine. You can dress up in loads of body paint, in costume, fully clothed, or completely naked. Everyone is welcome, no matter what age.

We've also got a promotional event coming up THIS SATURDAY, July 26 at 9 pm. We'll be watching Indecent Exposure to Cars: The Story of the World Naked Bike Ride at CAMP (Community Arts and Media Project - 3022A Cherokee St). There's a suggested donation of body paint or a couple bucks, depending on whether or not you're biking or driving to the movie. We'll also have a bake sale.
