I just realized that this bike is a low trail bike. I don'tknow of a mass-produced biek with a trail of around 40mm.

Add to that the double butted steel frame and the canti brakes and that it ships with fat tires (35mm) + fenders and you have a damn good platform for a do-anything bike.

With horizontal dropouts (instead of track drop outs) it's even more appealing. just build up an wheel with an internally geared hub and you've got a great do everything bike. if i owned a shop, i'd build up a couple with a sram 7 speed or i9 and a hubbub drop bar shifter adapter... put a front rack on there, you're golden.

damn. i wonder what the retail is? as you think about the midnight century for next year, this would be a great rig.

michael -- out at N division bikes is the only raleigh dealer that I know of in town.

For Sale: 19.5" Specialized RockCombo is very good shape. All parts of OEM
except for Sugino 94bcd crankset and Nimbus tires. White color and decal-less
so no aqua blue to scream Miami Vice. Looks to be very low miles. No dents or
dings. BB1 bars.Suntour index 7 shifters. Email for pics and more info. $350
shipped or pick it up for three hundred in Western Mass. Thanks, Rob in
Amherst, MA rhendry (at) admin.umass.edu

These are cool bikes. They were sort of xo-1'ish -- 26" tires, steeper HT than most mountain bikes, 3-butted tubing. They also predated the xo-1. neat bikes. a great spokane bike if you like to hit trails and commute and like a quicker-handling bike. this is a good deal for a cool old bike wityh all the original parts. sweet bars. and this guy has a sugino 94 bcd cranksete on there. even better than the original.

dang. i wish i needed this bike.

My guess is that it's an 83 760. size 58 or 61.

$500 is expensive. Not a give away. $350-$400 would be a bit more reasonable, but if I didn't have a new frame coming, I'd consider $500 for this. It's got suntour superb, which is, welll, superb stuff.

If this is the 760, it would be a fantastic Spokane road bike --- think road/dirt/easy trails/etc.

one question to know is which forks is he including with it. and what kind of brakes.

This is temping. Size 59 fits me perfect. I'm 5' 10"

Details follow

Hi, All.

I have 32 59cm x 650B P/Rs in my current order and I'm
looking for a way to move them quickly.

So I'm testing the waters here to see if there's any interest.

Before you get excited, let me give you the details:

- they were built w/ 31.8 downtubes instead of the 28.6
so they're more like the G1 59s

- I will offer them with headsets and seat clamps and
BB cable guides - NO fenders - NO seatposts - I have
fenders and seatposts, but they will cost extra

- And each frame will include a G2 650B fork

- Anthony at Longleaf has agreed, in kind, to offer
650B wheels built with the Weinmann ZAC-19 rims
to those who need them

$339 plus whatever Fed Ex charges you for shipping.

Anyone interested?

I could start shipping them at the end of August.

This will likely become my default recommendation for people that want smart/all-rounder prodcution frames that can handle a front load well. Today it's kogswell, but there are some issues there that make building them up a bit wonky-fussy. And these frames are made in US. with standard diameter/9-6-9 tubing. This is essentially a modern RB-T with low trail and horizontal dropouts.

$900 for frame/fork

The cranks are 170's and it has a short stem, but not sure how long. I don't think the wheels are 700c. It's got fenders. They are asking $100.00 for it,which felt like to much to me, but what do I know.

CL: potentially interesting schwinn

if this is one of the Japanese bikes, it's probably a pretty nice sport tourer -- http://spokane.craigslist.org/bik/672943738.html

CL: good value Trek commuter $50

http://spokane.craigslist.org/bik/662346923.html; for a tall guy

CL: Bike for Ken

I don't really know much about these, but the Raliegh international and the raleigh competition are highly sought after bikes.

this is a great bike -- basically similar quality/tubing/craftsmanship to the rb-1. it's been said... he said passivly ... that the build quality of the miyata of this era was as good as it gets for production bikes. if i hadn't found my rb-1, this bike would be in my garage by tomorrow.

this is an old 80's specialized sirrus. back when they were lugged and made in Japan. I'm pretty sure the Miyata folks make this era of road bike. I know they made the specialized expedition back then.

This would be a fun bike to ride and it's a looker too!

Nearly complete except for a missing saddle, non-original bars and levers. It's got semi-horizontal drop outs, so it would make a great fixie/ss. It's about a 17" or 54cm ish lugged frame, headbadge says handmade in Japan. Attached is a link to the catalogue. I'd like to get $75, but I'll entertain offers or trades. I'll send a picture if you're interested.

http://bp2.blogger.com/_whtVpXkKwlQ/...0-h/img047.jpg

CL (san luis obisopo): MB-Zip

This is not a good deal, but it's one of those deals that makes you feel bad. Well. It makes me feel bad.

Here's the bike:

The story, from http://slo.craigslist.org/bik/594910132.html, "in storage for 17 years, i doubt there is one in better condition anywhere in the world, less than 3 miles on bike "

I wish Liza were into competitive mountain biking. If she was, and I had nothing better to do with $1600, it would rule to buy this bike. These bikes were for racing. They used super light tubing and were tig-welded to reduce weight (compared to those heavy ass lugs); fancy, light, smart components. Apparently, these frames would fail if they were abused by oafs like me.

Wade: this looks like it would fit you just right.
